DON'T SHOW UP NAKED TO A JOB INTERVIEW!

Today a young, aspiring vending operator asked me: do you bring a goodie bag or a flyer when locating or do you go empty handed?
And I explained OH NO, I wouldn't be caught dead empty handed. I bring a flyer showcasing my machines, a product list and pricing, a notebook and pen to take notes, my iPad with videos and my website and presentations in case I need them on the fly. Business cards.
AND yes, goodie bags, with your most interesting, enticing products (hint: not always your best sellers. You sell the dream of healthy and quality, but people end up buying the snickers anyway).
And I dress business casual, because THIS IS A ON THE FLY JOB INTERVIEW. Even though you are providing something for free, they are trusting you to keep their employees and customers happy.
If you don't exude confidence and ability, you are not going to get hired. Anything less than what I just wrote, to me, is going naked to a job interview (by the way, you should be doing this to apply to any job, ever).
She asked me: well how can I show machines if I don't have any?
Before you step foot at a location, you should at least know a few machines and their selling points that you can showcase, so you can say why you're offering is better than what they have. You should be able to say how you do things differently, like picklists or whiteboards for suggestions, that here's my personal number, I will take care of you. YOU NEED TO BE THE EXPERT IN THE ROOM ON YOUR MACHINES AND YOUR BUSINESS.
People asked how I have such a high win rate. And it's because I know anyone with a few thousand bucks can buy a vending machine. This is one of the lowest barrier to entry business in terms of cost. Easiest business. So because there's a lot of competition, your business skills need to be polished.
